Pat Buchanan Says Black Americans Should Be Grateful for Years of Oppression and Segregation
OFFLINE

Before I paste this article I want to remind you first of Trent Lott.  Nuff said.  Second I want to say I apologize that I haven't been on the board as I have been very busy lately and having some face to face conversations with republicans on specific items that I find interesting.  After a few debates I have changed my position on free markets and NAFTA and I think that we need to spend more time doing what we used to do best before we got a president that says "were kickin a***amp;quot; all the time.  We need to invent things and right now this war and this high gas is only going to do one thing in the end....  Have us make alternative fuels for energy and more fuel efficient cars.  Now myself as a black man I can have a debate with a person of another culture or race and be open minded.  Most of the black men and women that I know are like that, however, the more I open my eyes it is not the same way.

Here is one of your leaders that made huge contributions to the last two presidential elections.  Jerry Falwell's and Pat Robertson.

http://www.wikio.com/entertainment/tv/talk_shows/700_club?wfid=49473382  in this link he said the US deserved the attacks on 9-11.  So whats the difference.? Same bs only hes white?  hmm there is a point there!  I would like to here you guys try to explain that one.  The fact of the matter is I have seen almost 2 weeks on wright and this didnt get any airplay.  it took me 30 minutes just to find a link on google!  So tell me why its ok for a Republican Pastor to say these things, but not a black pastor which has done way more good for the community than bad.  In my opinion both of them are wrong, but Im not the one inflating propaganda am I?  So since I base my thoughts on logic, please remember that when you respond..If you respond. This is just another reason for the racial divide.  Now though since I have had time to really study whats going on real time in America.  I once thought that the reason that we have not moved forward (racially) was because of people of my color not being able to let go of the past.  I think I said 51 /49.  My opinion now is about 65 / 35 as now that I see how the majority of Americans (which are white) have a  hangup on race!  At least in coming from white America on the Republican side.

Trust me I even hated even noticing it, but when you have a black man that is kinda in the middle of mixed race and I have caught from both sides.  You not black enough, you are too black.  I have a keen eye to problems and trust me whats going on with these stories are real real real problems for white America.  I have spoken up for years for black America to just let it go and move on, give it a chance and re-evaluate later.  Will white America do the same. Will you guys practice what you preach and reject anyone that says racist things or will you pacify them and still be associated?  That challenge goes out to all the people that are so outraged by the soundbites

Well lets get to the main squeeze of this article.

Pat Buchanan Says Black Americans Should Be Grateful for Years of Oppression and Segregation

How could Buchanan listen to the Obama speech and walk away with this level of vitriol in his heart and purposeful ignorance of history?

While progressives and average Americans who think Barack Obama's speech presented a difficult challenge wring their hands worrying about appearing to be racist if they broach the subject in any significant way, the depth of the problem at hand is clear when we have folks on the right like Pat Buchanan just laying it on the line with this kind of mind-blower.
First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known.

Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.

Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the '60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream.

(now all of that is only for blacks huh..check and see the numbers of white people that are on those programs.  this whole thing is insulting and it is an outrage and I don't hear any white people coming around to say.  hey this is bad.  It is the hidden racism that overwhelms white America today!  )

...We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude?
Thanks, Pat. We've got the old "lift up" message, all right. How could people like Buchanan listen to the same speech and walk away with this level of vitriol in their heart and purposeful ignorance of history? Our country suffers an incredible sickness when it comes to race relations. The point of Obama's speech is that we all have work to do, and share responsibility in opening up an adult dialog. The above does nothing to advance understanding, and shows no desire to do so either.

I love Dave Neiwert's comment on Pat's "A Brief for Whitey" essay. It's below the fold.

Damn, I'm sure most black people forgot to be grateful for segregation, the lynching era, sundown towns, and the continuing discrimination they face both in employment and in residence. Because the institutional conditions created by those decades of bigotry have in fact gone largely unchanged, though to white guys like Buchanan, that simply isn't a factor:
Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America? Is it really white America's fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent?

Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself?
Well, I'm sure black voters are convinced by that argument. After all, it's obvious that the matter of continuing discrimination is just an illusion in their heads.

Those are some of the most racist comments I have ever heard and you guys don't reject him or denounce him.  Not as long as he gives you votes.  So if Fox News and the Republican party associate Obama to Wright's speech, then its only logical to associate Republicans with racism!  Funny thing is that I went to the trouble to listen to the whole context of that sermon, not just a sound bite.

ITS AMAZING HOW RACISM IS SO BAD WHEN IT COMES FROM A BLACK PERSON, BUT ITS BEEN OK IN THE REVERSE FOR THE LAST FEW CENTURIES FOR WHITE AMERICA!
