Can history repeat itself? Here are some facts to help prove how damned true it is.
Then and Now: War
OFFLINE

There are many reasons why the phraze "History repeats itself" is very true.

Many people do not know anout the two wars i am going to talk about in this blog. It goes back to a statment i had previously made in another blog. In 1898 there was a 4 month war called the Spanish American War. Here is a little history lesson if you need it:

During Imperialism,

The United States suddenly became interested in Cuba, which at the time was owned by Spain. We were horrified by the treatment of the Cubans. "Yellow Journalism" was used to get people aware of such things and get them to want to declare war with Spain. But they didn't have anything that really got the people's attention, the needed somrthing that would strongly support war.

A few months later they got what the wanted.

A war ship, USS MAINE, expolded off of the coast of Cuba. Newspapers jumped at the opportunity and blamed the expolsion on Spain. Teddy Roosevelt and McKinley are outraged and declare war. Roosevelt even resined from his position of vice-president to join the Rough Riders at San Juan Hill.

In the end, the U.S. gets to show it's newly found strngth and becomes a world power.

Now, my good people, I have a question for you. Why did we all the sudden we decide to get involved in a war that, according to today's studies, wasn't even caused by the Spanish, the expolsion was caused by a engine problem.

I'll tell you why, for our own damned good! We could care less that the Cubans were treated badly, we just wanted to make sure that our trade routes with them were not affected!

So now I ask you this, in Africa there is somewhat of a war going on. Innocent women and children are raped and the men of the family are forced to watch the rape their own mothers, wifes, and daughters. Where is the "yellow journalisim" these days?

I am not saying that we should start a war with them oe anything, I merely pointing out that i believe this country has lost true kindness towards other countries and history surely proves that.
